The practice of running business intelligence with the discipline of engineering, versioned, tested, deployed and audited.
A generation ago, software shipped by hand and broke in production. The tools existed, but nothing changed until the practice got a name: a shared discipline teams could adopt, hire for, and hold each other to. Version control, CI, review gates, rollback became the default, not the exception. The name is what made change safe.
BI is exactly where software was then: the content layer still ships by hand, unversioned, untested, unaudited. DevOps can’t cover it, because its tools were built for code, not BI content. The layer the business actually decides from needs its own named discipline, and that is BI Ops.
Every change in BI moves through these five stages, whether anyone is governing them or not. Motio governs all five, on one foundation, across all four platforms.
