Baker Tilly maintains over 1,500 Qlik Sense apps across development, production, and a customer-facing environment, with five developers and twelve testers spread over twelve offices. Without natural version control in Qlik, changes had to be made and validated twice, leading to long cycles, unavailable apps, and the temptation to edit directly in production, which would have produced unvalidated, non-compliant content. For a financial firm, that was untenable: "If you go to a customer, their first question is, how is your change management?"
After meeting the Motio team at Qlik Qonnections in 2019, Jan-Willem van Essen adopted Motio for its deployment and change-management capability. Promoting an app from development to production no longer required testing and validating twice, and every migration and acceptance was logged with notes, transforming the internal audit process.
“If you go to a customer, their first question is: how is your change management? We need to have that ourselves. For us it was a no-brainer to implement such a tool.”
“To create an app for a new client and deploy it to production has gone from a day to an hour.”
