After moving from Business Objects to IBM Cognos, Catlin's BI environment grew fast, serving 2,400+ staff across six underwriting hubs, with development split across the UK, India, and the US. But only two people in the entire organization were authorized to promote content from development to QA to production, creating a severe bottleneck. In a highly regulated insurance industry, quality and accuracy couldn't be compromised, yet QA checks on offshore development were slowing every release.
Catlin implemented Motio (delivered by Motio partner Aramar in the UK) for self-service promotion, version control, and automated testing. Every promoted asset could be traced to who promoted it, when, and which version. Automated regression testing controlled the quality of development work, and any asset could be safely reverted to a previous version.
