HealthPort set out to consolidate authentication onto a tightly controlled Active Directory, but its Cognos applications had always authenticated against a separate Access Manager. Migrating between auth sources changes the CAMIDs of users, groups, and roles, which can break security policies, group memberships, scheduled deliveries, and data-level security. Doing it manually would have been hugely expensive and error-prone for a HIPAA-compliant organization.
HealthPort chose Motio, whose patent-pending ability to migrate Cognos between authentication sources without affecting CAMIDs kept all content, schedules, and security configuration working exactly as before. Post-migration, audited impersonation let admins securely see what an end-user sees to troubleshoot issues, and SSO simplified access.
